Summary of Rental Conditions
This document contains a brief summary of our rental conditions. Rates quoted are in Australian dollars.
Branch Opening Hours
Allow 1 hour for collection, Returns/Drop off of vehicles must be done one hour prior to closing time.

Late Drop Off Penalty
You will continue to be responsible for the rental of the Vehicle until the Vehicle is returned to the Return Location. Failure to obtain an authorisation for a rental extension will result in a late fee of AU$150 per day in addition to the daily rental rate plus the daily rate charge applicable to your Liability Reduction Option for each day until the Vehicle is returned. The daily rental rate charged will be the rate applicable on the day of extension which may differ from the original rate booked. These charges will be applied to the Customers credit card on a daily basis until the Vehicle is returned.
Rental Charges
Rentals are charged per calendar day.
Early Bird Discount
An Early Bird discount of 5% off the daily rental rate will apply to rentals that commence 125 days after the date of booking.
Long Term Discounts
- 21+days - 10% off daily rental rates
- Only applies to the daily rental rate
- The long term discount can be combined with the Early Bird Discount
- No other discounts can be combined
Multiple Rentals
Consecutive Cruisin and GoCheap rentals can be combined to qualify for a Long Term Discount. Rentals can be combined to qualify if travel is within a 3-month period. If a drop off of a vehicle and a pick-up of a new vehicle occur on the same day then a day each will be charged per respective vehicle. Multiple rentals are treated as separate rentals under the one way fee and minimum rental period conditions.
Transfer
It is the renters responsibility to get to and from the branch.
Pick Up and Drop Off Locations
Vehicles must be returned to Cruisin’ depots and not airports. Transfers to and from the Cruisin’ depot are not included in the rental price. It is the renter’s responsibility to get to and from the branch. No refund will be offered to compensate transportation costs.
Kilometers
Rates include unlimited kilometres.
Administration Fees - Taxes
Rates include 10% GST.
Credit Card Surcharge - At the Depot
Cruisin only accepts credit card, debit card or Eftpos card for the rental charges paid on pickup or drop off. Cruisin is unable to accept cash at its rental branches. The security bond on the vehicle is only payable at pick up by a physical single credit card. Personal cheques, company cheques and bank transfers will not be accepted as payment for rental charges at the time of pickup. These must be received by Cruisin 14 days prior to commencement of rental.

Exchange Rate - Currency Variations
All credit card transactions are conducted in Australian dollars. Due to exchange rate fluctuations there could be some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount initially charged. We do not accept any liability for variances up or down. Refunds by credit card can take up to 15 working days depending on the renters Financial Institution.

One Way Rentals
One way rentals are available if you wish to pick up and drop off at different branch locations subject to the minimum rental periods. A one way fee of $165 applies to all one way rentals.
Drivers Licence and Minimum Age
All renters are required to have a full and current motor vehicle driver’s license that must be produced by the driver on collection. Should a foreign licence be in a language other than English it must be accompanied by a current international driving permit issued in the same country as the driver’s licence was issued. An accredited English translation will be accepted in lieu of an international driving permit.
Drivers must be 21 years of age or over and 79 or under.
Extra Driver Fees
There are no fees for additional drivers up to two drivers.
Road Restrictions
All Cruisin campervans and motorhomes can only be driven on sealed/bitumen roads. The only exceptions to this are well maintained access roads of less than eight (8) kilometres to recognised campgrounds.
General Equipment
Each vehicle is supplied with complimentary equipment dustpan/brush, fire extinguisher, bucket, hose, broom and power lead.
Kitchen and Personal Kits
Each vehicle is supplied with living equipment (such as cooking equipment, utensils, bath and tea towels and bedding). All equipment must be returned in working order.
Maps and Campground Guides
Each vehicle is supplied with a complimentary Road Atlas. A campground guide can be offered at selected branches.
Vehicle Consultation
On pick up of the vehicle Cruisin’ staff will provide a vehicle consultation. This is in the form of an audio visual guide that includes an explanation of all interior and exterior features of the vehicle as well as driving tips and recommendations.
Vehicle Length
When booking campsites and ferry crossings, Cruisin recommends making a reservation for a 7.3 metre vehicle irrespective as to the size of the vehicle reserved, to avoid complications due to possible upgrades.
LP Gas
A pre-hire gas refill charge of $25 applies for all 2 and 3 berth vehicles and $35 for all 4 and 6 berth vehicles. Agents must now sell the gas refill as part of the booking. The renter is not required to re-fill prior to return. This does not apply to customers who have purchased the Stress Free Pack.
Child Restraints
Toddler seats suitable for children 6 months to 4 years of age can be hired for $35 per rental (included in the Maximum Cover Package). Toddler seats cannot be fitted in the 2 Berth Hi-Top Campervan or the 2 Berth Sandpiper Motorhome.
Customers who wish to travel with children under 6 months of age need to provide their own Australian standard approved baby seat

Rental Extension
If the Customer wishes to extend the rental whilst on hire, they must first obtain authorisation from Cruisin by calling 1300 664 485 or +61 3 6248 4789. The extra days will be calculated by using either the original rental rate or the current rate that is valid at the time of the booking change, depending on whichever rate is higher plus the daily rate charge applicable to your chosen Liability Reduction Option. Rental extension is subject to fleet availability. The extra cost of an extended rental must be paid by the Customer by credit card on confirmation of the rental extension.Failure to obtain authorisation will result in the renter being charged at the Late Return rate outlined above.
Repairs
Although we run late model vehicles, it may happen that small repairs are required. Repairs up to AU$100 may be affected without authorisation and will be reimbursed at the end of your rental. All vehicles are enrolled with RAC 24hr emergency roadside assistance.
Infringements and Administration Costs
Cruisin Motorhomes reserves the right to charge the renter for any speeding, toll way or parking fines. In addition to these costs, CM reserves the right to charge for associated administration costs for processing the fines. An administration fee of AU$55.00 per fine will be applicable. This fee will be applicable per offence.
Change Of Vehicle
Should the vehicle booked be unavailable through unforeseen circumstances, we reserve the right to substitute an alternative vehicle without prior notification and at no extra cost. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the renter to a refund.
Limit of Liability
In the event of no alternative vehicle being available to the renter our liability is limited to a refund of the hire charge or in the case of mechanical failure (unless caused by the renter) the remainder of the hire period.
Change of Drop Off Destination
All renters must first obtain authorisation from Cruisin’ before changing the drop off destination after the rental period has already commenced. Subject to change being approved, a minimum additional charge of $700 will apply
Vehicle Category
Vehicles can only be requested by the vehicle category and not by make or model.
Voluntary Downgrades
Should you choose to rent a lesser vehicle than previously booked within 14 days of pick up or during the rental then you will not be entitled to a refund.
Group Bookings
- All booking requests of 3 or more vehicles for the same travel dates will be considered a group booking and will require approval
- Group bookings are subject to different cancellation teams. If a group or part of a group booking is cancelled the following cancellation fees apply. 29 + days prior to pick up No Fee. If cancelled 28 days or less prior to pick up 100% of the total rental
Important
We reserve the right to refuse any rental at our discretion.
Animals
No animals are permitted in the vehicles, excluding guide dogs.
Smoking
Smoking is not allowed in the vehicles. Heavy penalties apply to any vehicle found with a trace of smoke.
Cancellation & Amendments
Cancellations must be notified in writing and the day of receipt of the cancellation is the date the cancellation fee as follows -
- If cancelled any time up to 36 days prior to pick-up = 20% or deposit paid (whichever is greater)
- If cancelled 35 to 7 days prior to pick-up = 45% of Rental
- If cancelled 6 to 1 days prior to pick-up = 70% of Rental
- If cancelled within 24 hours of pick up or No-Show = 100% of Rental
- If vehicle is returned early there is no refund available for the unused days and a No Show is considered as 100% Cancellation.
Amendments are charged at a rate of AU$50 per change. This applies but is not limited to changing the client name, vehicle type, reducing the number of rental days, changing the pickup dates or locations. No refund given on the initial deposit paid.
If an amendment is made to the rental whereby the length of hire is shortened, no refund will be given on the initial deposit amount nor can it be transferred to the balance payable on pick up. In addition, if an amendment is made inside 14 days of pick up, the rental will be charged at the number of days originally booked. A relocation fee may also apply if the collection or return location is amended.
Where the hire is being extended, the amendment fee will not apply.
Please note that amendments may result in the daily rental rate to be recalculated at the rate applicable on the date of the amendment for the entire rental period.
If a bookings travel dates are amended within the cancellation fee period to be outside of the cancellation fee period and is subsequently cancelled, the cancellation fee for the original booking will apply.
PROTECTION PACKAGE
The Vehicle has third party insurance cover. It is likely that any other vehicle involved in an accident also has third party insurance cover. Depending on the circumstances of the accident, the renter may be entitled to claim for the personal injury against the third party insurance of the party responsible for the accident. The extent of such third party insurance varies in different States and Territories and CTM strongly recommends that all passengers take out their own Personal Injury Travel Insurance.
If the renter is responsible for the accident the Vehicles third party insurance should cover the renter for the liability except where the renter has committed a breach of the Vehicles third party insurance, eg drink driving.
Property Damage
The Vehicle is insured for damage to it or damage to the property of a third party. However the renter is responsible up to the amount of the applicable Liability for the cost of such damage to third party property, or to the rented vehicle. The Liability applies in respect of each claim, not rental. In addition to the Liability an administration fee of AU$75 will be charged per claim.
The Liability is applicable regardless of who is at fault and must be paid at the time the accident is reported to CM, not at the completion of the rental period. CM reserves the right to charge the renter for any vehicle damage including Third Party property damage not reported on return of the vehicle.
Standard Liability
CM rental charge includes a Standard Liability of AU$5,000.
A Bond of AU$5,000 will be collected at the time of entering into the Rental Contract. Payment of this Bond is only accepted by credit card. The $5000 will be debited to the credit card account immediately.
The Standard Liability can be reduced by purchasing one of the following Liability Reduction Options (LRO) -
Liablity Reduction Option
A Zero Liability applies and you will not have to pay a security bond of $5,000. This Option can be purchased by paying $45 per day. The maximum amount payable for this option is $2,250 (50 days rental).
Stress Free Package
The Stress Free Package is an 'All Inclusive Package' which includes LRO, GPS, Camp Chairs & Table, Baby &|or Booster Seats Windscreen and Tyre damage and the LP Gas Refill Fee.
A Zero Liability applies and you will not have to pay a security bond of $5,000. This Option can be purchased by paying $55 per day. The maximum amount payable for this option is $2,750 (50 days rental).
Bond
For security purposes
- The bond must be paid by a physical single Credit Card on the day of pickup
- The card holder must be present and able to sign for the bond on the day of pickup
- Cannot be split between multiple cards
- Must be processed in the one transaction
The credit card holder is jointly and severally liable for any damage to the rental vehicle. The security deposit is fully refundable when the vehicle is returned to the correct location on time, with a full fuel tank, toilet and gray water tanks emptied and all other terms of the Rental Agreement have been complied with. If there is damage to the vehicle on its return, the security bond will be used to cover the cost of such damage up to the amount of the relevant liability. However, if the terms of the Rental Agreement are breached and the security bond is insufficient to cover the damage, then any extra cost will be charged. Refunds by credit card including bond refunds can take up to 14 working days and the time can vary depending on the Financial Institutions involved. Refund of the security bond is not a waiver of the Customer’s liability under the Rental Agreement, Cruisin retains the right to recover monies for Damage notwithstanding the return or refund of the security bond.
Windscreen and Tyre Cover
This is an additional cover package. A $90 once off fee applies prior to or on pick up of the vehicle and covers the renter for any accidental damage to the windscreen and tyres. This is an additional cover and can be purchased with standard liability or any reduction options. Windscreen refers to all glass on the vehicle. (Included in the stress free package)
Delivery & Return of Vehicle
The Customer acknowledges having received the Vehicle in a clean condition, with a full fuel tank and a full gas bottle. Penalties will apply to vehicles where these requirements are not met.
Full Responsibility
At all times the renter is responsible for:
- Damage caused where the terms of Rental Contract have been breached
- Damage caused by negligence
- Damage caused to the Vehicle in any way by part or total water submersion or salt water
- Damage caused due to a single vehicle roll over, except where the Maximum Cover Package has been purchased
- Damage caused to the Vehicle by the renters wilful conduct
- Damage caused to the Vehicle when using the Vehicle in contravention of any legislation or regulation controlling vehicular traffic
- Damage or loss caused to any personal belongings
- Damage caused due to use of incorrect or contaminated fuel
- Damage to the awning
- Damage to the slide out room
- Damages to the windscreen - includes all glass windows (unless Windscreen & Tyre Cover purchased)
- Damage to the overhead or underbody of the vehicle
- Damage to tyres (unless Windscreen & Tyre Cover purchased)
Airport Access Fees
An airport concession fee of AU$16.50 will apply for hires with pick-up at Hobart Airport.
