New South Wales is a state that too often is only remembered for its coastal attractions and for the recognisable international landmarks of Sydney. If you've got the time and the spirit of adventure, then head inland for sights and sounds that will leave you breathless. The town of Dubbo is a good place to use as a base or as a stopover: it caters well to tourists, has a lot to see in the surrounding regions and is home to the infamous Western Plains Zoo.

Dubbo is about a five hour drive from Sydney, but remember when you are touring on a campervan Sydney holiday, half the fun is in getting there! So take it slow and enjoy some of the sights along the way, and if you feel the need to stopover then pull into a campsite that caters for campervans and relax.

The beauty of a self drive holiday in Australia is the freedom to do as you please, so make the most of it! Some of the places around the Blue Mountains are worth visiting for a day or two, so call in at Katoomba or Blackheath for amazing lookouts, bushwalks and restaurants.

Dubbo is a thriving outback city known for its extraordinary zoo featuring everyone's favourite animals from Africa, Australia, Asia, North America and many other locations. It is a fantastic base to visit many of the other towns in the central west tablelands and is ideal as a destination or stopover for your campervan Australia trip.

Dubbo lies right next to the Macquarie River, one of the main inland rivers in New South Wales. There is a great walk along this river which also takes you through the Dubbo parklands, or you can find your own fishing spot and just enjoy the peace of the outback. Along the banks you also will find the Dundullimal Homestead.

If the trip to Dubbo sounds appealing, then why not use our planner above and check the availability of our campervans for hire? If you have any questions, head across to our FAQ's page, or just give us a ring on the number below.
