The campsite is best in winter, when the days are generally mild and sunny - frosty nights are common. The camping area stretches for 3kms upstream from the crossing on Namatjira Drive. There is some shade from scattered rivergums and the best sites feature nice views of the range to the north. Otherwise its a case of BYO everything, including firewood.

On the Dimbulah Road 3 km west of Mareeba the Rodeo Grounds are open for camping from April to September. It will cost about $12.00 per day including power, water, sewer dump point, toilets. A huge area with not much shade but a great place for a big rig. The park also stays open during the Mareeba Rodeo in July each year

Two-mile campsite. 136kms from Alice Springs. To get there follow directions as above. From Larapinta drive swing onto Namatjira Drive past Standley Chasm. Take the unsign-posted 4WD track on the right just past the Glen Helen turnoff and immediately before the Finke River crossing. The campsite is best in winter, when the days are generally mild and sunny - frosty nights are common. The camping area stretches for 3kms upstream from the crossing on Namatjira Drive. There is some shade from scattered rivergums and the best sites feature nice views of the range to the north. Otherwise its a case of BYO everything, including firewood.
